Penalty
After getting well clear of other wingfoils as soon after the incident as possible, a wingfoil takes a penalty by:
- (a) Except on a beat to windward, by promptly tacking and bearing away to a course that is more than ninety degrees from the true wind.
- (b) When on a beat to windward, by promptly gybing and then luffing to a close-hauled course.
When a wingfoil takes a penalty at or near the finishing line, she shall sail completely to the course side of the line before she finishes.
